Once again, those dark clouds above Bolton had been persistent in opening over town all week – but when Saturday morning arrived, it was cracking the flags – and the Falcons were back in action! And this was going to be a good test of the progress we’ve made – as we were taking on Hindley Town who we faced in our first game eight weeks ago – so knowing the result that day meant that we’d see how far we’d come and that was something that was definitely on show out there today…
Because both teams served up a real treat and this truly was a goal-fest! The football played was first-class with some brilliant passing and movement creating angles for each other and with everybody tracking back to support the defence, we looked solid from front to back. The Hindley team more than played their part as well as they were great in attack and made our defence work hard to try and keep them out and as the minutes went on, the supporters from both sides knew that they were being spoilt here…
And talk about shooting boots! The attacking prowess of both teams saw the ball in the back on the net on no less than 16 occasions and each and every goal was a superb one! And when the whistle went to end the game, there was no doubt that a draw was a fair result. We had done what we set out to do – and showed how much we had learnt in the last two months – and as both teams left the field, the fans were loud in their appreciation…
Connor was awarded the Player of the Match due to his effort and determination out there – and he really did put in some fantastic tackles – alongside some great goal-keeping when he was given the gloves. Well done young man! A great display today…
All over the pitch though, it was a terrific performance and it is clear for all to see that these kids really are bonding as the weeks go by. Their work-rate is growing every time they play and with the great support of you County faithful behind them, they will only keep getting better…
Thanks so much to our friends from Hindley Town for being involved in such a great game and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season – and as for the Falcon, we cannot be any prouder. These players are really going from strength to strength and it’s great to see – so make sure you try to get down to watch them ‘live’…
Another Saturday. Another weekend of the Falcons flying. We’ll take that…
