With Women and Girls football increasing in popularity – and the current World Cup bringing even more players to our beautiful game – it’s really good to see Bolton County FC at the forefront of the future and our Jess Ross recently attended the North West Female Coaches Conference that was being held at Leigh Sports Village. All of the local Football Associations were in partnership including:

– Cheshire FA
– Lancashire FA
– Liverpool FA
– Manchester FA

There were several superb guest speakers who had a wealth of knowledge in not only the current situation but also what the future holds and they included:

– Rebecca Garlick – The FA National Coach Lead for Women and Girls
– Charlotte Healey – Manchester United First Team Coach
– Vicky Jepson – Tottenham Hotspur Interim Head Coach

There were six different workshops held throughout the day and having to choose three, our Jess opted for:

– Utilising Game Formats to support practice design
– Introduction to coaching goalkeepers and how to incorporate them into an outfield practice
– Motivating players to engage in learning

She found the whole experience inspiring and reinvigorating and said it was ‘time well spent’ learning from others – both female and their male counter-parts – so that she can bring it back and implement it within our u14 Girls and Women’s teams along with others within our great Club. It was a great reminder of why we do what we do – and how much our commitment contributes to the future of grassroots football and growing our beautiful game…

Well done Jess. We’re proud of you. Now make sure that all our players steal some of that knowledge from you and put into practice on that pitch eh?
