Having played really well in the midweek friendly against Breightmet United, this morning saw the Rockets back in action and yet again, they played amazingly – in their away kit of all red…

After awaiting the opposition to arrive – and observing the silence impeccably for Remembrance Day – it was County that got off to the quickest start and with a slide-rule pass from Reggie, there was Thomas to tuck it home expertly. This was followed by a fantastic run down our left-flank by William and as he cut inside, he looked up and with a cool finish, the ball was in the back of the net. We were purring…

The game was fast-paced and both sides were working hard – and when Harry played a great ball in front of Ayush, he did the rest by finishing neatly and then William got his brace after some excellent pressing high up the pitch by the team in blue. Both sides were serving up a real treat here and fans gathered around the pitch were really enjoying it…

Moss Bank didn’t give up and they created their own chances as we looked to defend, Dougie was making some superb saves diving in and out of the mud. It looked like he was thoroughly enjoying his morning’s work out there…

We saw a great shot from Thomas nearly rip the back of the net as it hit it and after some hard running all game so far, it was justified when our Harry managed to get his name on the scoresheet as well. All over the park, the Rockets were on point. Alfie was – as ever – excellent in defence and he was unlucky not to see his name on the scoresheet after two super-strikes flew agonisingly wide of the mark.

Our defence had been solid and with one pushing on and the other staying back as the coaches asked, we had a good shape across there. With the squad we had available to us, we rotated the subs well and the strikers played their part as they moved into space and looked for the pass or the cross. Shailen made some superb darting runs into gaps and was unlucky not to notch and with Thomas, Reggie, Harry and Ayush giving their defence plenty to think about, we looked good up there. Some of the back-heels from Ayush and Shailen were first-class as well…

The MOTM was decided by the Moss Bank team – and they chose William to be awarded it today! A fantastic effort from the young man and we’re really proud of him and all his team-mates tonight…

And that was that for another week! These kids just keep amazing us and we’re so happy when Saturday comes around again. Same time next week people?
