Last weekend’s excellent display from Team Storm left the County fans purring as they made their way home – so as they made their way bac to watch their heroes seven days later, they were just as excited. The girls have been doing so well this season so we were all looking forward to seeing if they could keep that rich vein of form going here and guess what? They didn’t disappoint…
We knew from the off that this was going to be a tough test for us and as we arrived, it was clear that the pitch was wet and heavy – so the coaches urged their troops to let the ball do the work for them today. And throughout the game, we made plenty of positional changes so that the girls could get experience and develop their knowledge. We showed just how good we are even with those changes and moving the ball well, we worked so hard together as a team – with great supporting and communication all over the pitch. We pressed our opponents high and didn’t give them a second to relax on the ball. All in all, a fantastic all-round performance once again from the girls…
Our passing was on fire and some great composure on the ball meant that we were releasing it at exactly the right time to create chances. And when they came, we didn’t half put them away! A hat-trick from Kendal and two goals from our Georgia were then added to by goals for Eliza, Emily and Robanna made it a near-perfect day for Team Storm and as the players left the pitch, they were rightly applauded by the faithful County fans that had braved the weather to cheer us on here…
The Manager’s Girl of the Game was awarded to Georgia for great skills and her constant communication to her team-mates – and the Parents Girl of the Week went to Willow – who played superbly and used her great footwork and strenght on the ball to help us dominate the play. All of the girls can go home proud today – because we most definitely are!
