Tuesday April 23rd Must be summer as we now get Mid week games as well as weekend . All Stars of the back of a great showing against Farnworth face another A Section team in Bromley Cross Vipers. Having had many an epic encounter with Jaguars we now face the unknown . A windy night and a pitch that looks like it has been specially shortened and All Stars line up with Harry in goal Kick Off All Stars start the game off and Vipers are quick to the ball , Vipers come forward in numbers , All Stars not on the pace and an early strike Vipers hitting the outside of the post. Undeterred All Stars come forward , long kick out by Harry , Jacob wins the ball in the middle sweeps the ball wide left to Patrick and a sprint down the wing cross in , beyond the advancing Finlay and out on the far side for a throw in. Goal Vipers forward , long ball over the advanced defense , cross in and three Vipers queing up to put the ball in the bottom corner. All Stars back in the game , Jacob again battling well in midfield , plays a defense splitting pass for Patrick to run on, defender just reaches out and puts the ball out for a corner. Following an uneasy start , All Stars start to settle into the pace of the game and looking more organised in midfield. From the back Jack thru midfield to Patrick first time to Finlay shot just wide. All Stars again thru the middle this time shot by Jacob just wide. Having been on the back foot in the opening 10 minutes All Stars now starting to open up some good chances Jack thru ball to Aaron, lay back to Finlay curling shot loks destined to go just inside the far post , grea save keeper to turn the ball around the post for a corner. Aaron swings the corner in Jacob controls the ball , sets up the shot cleared off the line corner. Vipers turn to come forward hopeful cross shot just past the center forward and out for a goal kick Harry kick out, Donovan collects , moves forward , shot going wide and Finlay just cant reach the ball to turn it in Vipers come forward but as before , reduced to long range shot and Harry saves and gathers comfortably. Corner to All Stars cleared long, 3 Vipers past 2 All Stars defenders , Harry comes out to the edge of the area sprerads himself wide and makes a brilliant save Don long ball from the back to Patrick shot into the side netting Goal It had been coming Pat battles well in the middle , wins the ball just inside vipers half sets up Donovan , three paces forward and "Pings it" to score his signature goal from distance into the top corner Goal Vipers come back almost immediately Vipers corner scramble in the area punted in by Vipers from close range, All Stars looking to cancel out that goal before half time , Finlay shot saved and spilled, Donovan collects forward to Finlay, turns and shoots first time , going wide and Corey just can't reach , Jacob retrieves on the goal line , brings the ball all the way back to the edge of the area shoots and the keeper scrambles clear. Half time Jack in goal Early corner vipers, goes long and out for a goal kick. Jack kick out, straight back and saved for a corner. Corner cleared by Sam for a throw in. Vipers throw, into the middle shot deflection by Donovan and out for a corner . Like the First half opening, all the early pressure coming from Vipers. Corner in cleared long , up to Aaron tackled, and the ball goes out to Jacob shot from distance just wide Goal Great counter attack , Vipers throw in in the All Stars area cleared over the top to Aaron rounds the keeper for a great finish Like so often though in these A section games , the competitiveness and the pace is catching All Stars out in there organisation. Goal Vipers come forward quickly , cross in to the back post and a cool finish into the roof of the net. Both teams now in a period in of cancelling each other out in the middle of the pitch, All Stars showing that they can compete at this level. Goal Corner in by Vipers to the near post, touch on and past the keeper All Stars weakness at the moment seems to be defending corners and crosses in. Goal Cross in from wide on the left , All stars exposed goal at the back post as two Vipers are there waiting. . Goal Vipers corner in shot close range saved Jack ball out chipped in by free man from close range Full Time Like Saturdays game, All Stars take a short time to get onto the pace of the game, once there though they can more than hold their own at this level , only the awareness and organisation at set pieces is holding them back. Again though a tremendous display and demonstrating how far they have come in the last twelve months.
